MiBo Thermoflo Dry Eye Treatment FAQ’s

Below are some common questions asked about the new treatment MiBo Thermoflo and how it can help with dry eye syndrome.

What is MiBo Thermoflo?

It is a new alternative treatment for dry eye syndrome. It uses a heated eye pad to stimulate the cells in your eyes. With instant relief your eyes should feel soothed and moist again.

How does it work?

With your eyes closed your MiBo Thermoflo specialist will simply place some ultrasound gel on to your eye. They will then take the heated metal eye pad and gently massage your upper and lower eyelid. This will help the glands around your eyes produce more oil, making your eyes feel relieved of any symptoms of dry eye.

Is it safe?

MiBo Thermoflo is an extremely safe and effective therapy for dry eyes.

How much does it cost?

Before treatment, we will complete a consultation to assess the severity of your dry eye condition. This consultation is free. Each session of MiBo Thermoflo costs £95.

How many times do I need to have it done?

For best result it is recommended that you have three treatments and these need to be carried out two weeks apart.

Does it hurt?

The MiBo Thermoflo doesn’t hurt at all. Most people find the warm eye pad soothing and the whole experience very relaxing.

How long does it take?

To maximise the benefits of having MiBo Thermoflo, each eye takes between 8-12 minutes.

Who can have the treatment?

Anyone who is suffering from dry eye syndrome can benefit from having MiBo Thermoflo treatment.

Are there any side effects?

There are no side effects from having MiBo Thermoflo and your symptoms of dry eye should feel instantly better. Also if needed, you will have the ability to wear your contact lenses straight away.

How is this different to having a warm compress at home?

Although you may feel some benefit from doing warm compresses at home, the results with MiBo Thermfolo are more effective.

The eye pad heats up to a precise and safe temperature of 42°Celsius, which stimulate the cells immediately.

Whereas some compress can be too hot, this could then damage the eye. Or the compress could be too cold and fail to have any impact on producing oil in the glands around your eye.
